About the Role

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's Blue Moon landers and related products. You will lead the integration and technical oversight of critical propulsion hardware, including the BE-7 engines, across multiple lunar landers. You will shape technical content, manage propulsion system performance parameters, drive issue resolution, and coordinate with cross-functional teams and NASA to ensure compliance with design and construction standards. This role is pivotal to the successful development of the lunar transportation system and the certification of the Human-class Delivery Lander.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure BE-7 hardware and related common components are integrated across lunar landers
  • Define technical content for BE-7 Statements of Work (SOW)
  • Serve as accountable owner for the BE-7 integration forum across Lunar, as well as program-specific integration forums as needed
  • Drive top issues to closure with a strong bias for action; ensure Engines top issues are reflected in Program top issues
  • Own program-level Engines risks; create and elevate decisions to the HLS board as needed
  • Manage Engines Technical Performance Parameters (TPMs)
  • Manage HLS performance requirements and provide them to the Engines team during Requirements Definition
  • Evaluate Engines analyses and designs against requirements
  • Own Interface Requirements Documents (IRDs) and Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
  • Partner with the System Design and Certification (SDC) team to approve Engines Verification and Validation (V&V) approaches
  • Manage engine need/delivery dates and work with PPC to maintain and optimize the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS)
  • Manage the relationship with the NASA Insight team, ensuring timely responses to questions and visibility into integration activities
  • Coordinate with the SDC team and NASA to ensure design and construction standards are met

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or another technical field
  • 10+ years of experience integrating complex hardware components across multiple space vehicles and platforms, particularly propulsion systems
  • Experience in spacecraft development and/or testing
  • Ability to coordinate across collaborators and experts from different engineering disciplines to support Mission ICD and Range product closure
  • Strong leadership and facilitation skills to lead integration meetings, drive cross-functional collaboration, and ensure timely progress tracking and issue resolution
  • Ability to build trust, foster positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Strong knowledge of technical performance parameters and risk management for advanced propulsion systems, with the ability to elevate critical decisions to program leadership for strategic alignment
  • In-depth ability to evaluate engine system analyses and designs against rigorous program requirements to ensure compliance and reliability
  • Proven track record managing schedules and delivery dates, collaborating with program control functions, and maintaining clear, timely communication with external partners such as NASA
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate with internal and external teams to ensure compliance with rigorous design and construction standards
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing and testing engines
  • Experience with in-space combustion devices, particularly cryogenic and gaseous hydrogen/oxygen systems
  • Experience analyzing propulsion system impacts at the program level, including effects on vehicle and subsystem Key Performance Parameters (KPPs)
  • Proven ability to advance trade studies and drive critical decisions across multiple companies
  • Advanced proficiency with systems engineering tools such as Jama or Cameo
  • Experience with the Blue Origin HLS Program (MK1 or MK2)
  • Experience working on a verification program for a complex spaceflight or aviation system
  • Experience with requirements and V&V tracking tools, preferably Jama
  • Experience with NASA design and certification standards for human spaceflight
  • Experience with NASA's certification of flight readiness process for a new system
  • Experience with NASA lunar, deep space, or planetary missions
  • Experience working on large, complex programs with multiple partners
  • Experience defining technical content for Statements of Work (SOWs) related to advanced engines
