Sr. System Safety & Reliability Systems Engineer Verified today
About the Role
You will join the New Glenn SEIT system safety, reliability and risk team to develop processes and products for design and evaluation of the New Glenn orbital launch vehicle system and facilities. New Glenn is a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable and was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.
As part of a small team, you will work at the system level across New Glenn subsystems to support integrated solutions. You will utilize system engineering practices, ensure consistent implementations across elements, and serve in a system integration capacity working with multi-discipline teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess reliability for the New Glenn system using statistical methods and physics-of-failure modeling including 217+ and NSWC-11
- Use flight data to determine vehicle reliability, availability, and maintainability practices
- Create, evaluate, and perform reviews of system safety and reliability analyses including Hazard Assessments, FMECAs/HAZOPs, Fault Trees, Common Cause Assessments, Reliability Predictions, Reliability Block Diagrams, Human Error Assessments, and Hazard Sheets
- Evaluate safety and reliability products and requirements for compliance with internal and external standards including Range Safety, NASA, FAA, MIL-STD-882, ARP-4761, and SMC-S-013
- Implement and maintain system safety processes and identify continuous improvement opportunities
- Train and mentor engineers on identifying and analyzing system safety and reliability risks
- Work with systems engineering and subsystem cognizant engineers to identify and verify compliance with safety and reliability requirements
- Generate metrics and report on program system safety and reliability statuses
- Assess and mitigate program risks
