Sr. Thermal/Fluids Test Technician - Lunar Verified today
About the Role
You will support development, qualification, and production test campaigns for Blue Moon lunar products. Working within the Lunar Permanence business unit, you will maintain a safety-first mindset while executing hazardous tests involving cryogenic, high-voltage, and high-pressure systems.
Your responsibilities include:
- Set up and execute complex test campaigns for lunar hardware
- Independently fabricate and troubleshoot test rigs and systems
- Design and build test harnesses
- Install and operate instrumentation including strain gages, pressure transducers, load cells, thermocouples, RTDs, and accelerometers
- Fabricate high-pressure plumbing systems and handle cryogenic systems (gaseous and liquid)
- Support equipment management and calibration
- Evaluate test procedures and processes for efficiency and implement improvements
- Document and maintain accurate records with strict procedural compliance
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years' experience in aerospace or related fields
- Demonstrated mechanical skills: welding, milling, lathe, drilling, torqueing, soldering, crimping, tube flaring and bending
- Knowledge and experience with high-pressure and/or cryogenic systems (gaseous and liquid)
- Ability to fabricate high-pressure plumbing systems
- Experience with test operations procedures including hydraulic load control, hydro/pneumatic pressure control, and safe handling of flight parts
- Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, blueprints, P&IDs, and wiring schematics
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills with high attention to detail
- Excellent judgment with demonstrated ability to recognize, report, and correct issues
- Strong development background and experience working with limited instruction
Preferred Qualifications
- 8+ years of applicable industry experience in launch vehicles, satellites, aircraft, motorsports, or oil and gas
- A&P license or equivalent experience in launch vehicle or propulsion system assembly and integration
- Technical expertise in design, operation, testing, or production of pressurized (up to 6000 psi), cryogenic, hydraulic, and/or mechanical systems
- Strong knowledge of fluid components such as valves, regulators, actuators, servo-valves, and fittings
- Experience performing electrical work per NASA-STD-8739.4, AC-43.13-1B or similar
- Experience with environmental testing per SMC-S-016, MIL-STD-1540 or MIL-STD-810
- Familiarity with ASME, OSHA, and local building standards
- Experience working with precision clean hardware and systems in a cleanroom environment
- Experience installing strain gages with room-temperature and elevated-temperature cure adhesives
- Experience with 3D CAD tools (CREO/PRO-E preferred) and ability to read GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994
- Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts around flight-critical hardware
Compensation and Location
Base pay range for Washington applicants: $43.74 to $61.24 per hour. Other site ranges may differ. Full-time position in the Greater Seattle Area.
