About New Glenn

The Role

You will lead systems engineering, test, and launch operations for New Glenn's Upper Stage and Payload Accommodations (GS2PA). You will work across all subsystems to execute complex trades, develop new capabilities, and ensure safe, successful launch.

Responsibilities

  • Technical lead for system engineering, test, and launch operations for existing systems and new GS2PA capabilities
  • Execute complex trades and analyses across all GS2PA subsystems
  • Develop, allocate, and verify requirements for new solutions
  • Negotiate interfaces and coordinate between internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure consistent implementation of New Glenn system engineering, test, and launch operations practices
  • Develop health metrics to track program progress against major milestones
  • Lead gated reviews at GS2PA, program, and element levels
  • Lead product operations development through integrated testing and operations lifecycle
  • Create documentation and requirements for launch vehicle operation
  • Support development of integrated operational software including Built-In-Tests, Propellant Loading, Terminal Count, and flight systems
  • Support creation of operating requirements across vehicle subsystems
  • Ensure consistency, accuracy, and integration of operating requirements
  • Support procedure development and review scripts and displays used during operations
  • Assess gaps in vehicle operations concept and support fixes
  • Lead the GS2PA engineering team during integrated testing and launch operations; provide time-critical anomaly resolution decisions

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering, or other technical field
  • 7+ years proven experience in systems engineering, test, and launch operations on launch vehicles, spacecraft, or highly regulated industries
  • Hands-on experience developing, authoring, and executing integrated tests or operating launch vehicles
  • Experience with cryogenics, pneumatics, avionics, and rocket engine systems
  • Highly knowledgeable of systems engineering practices, integration processes, and mission/safety-critical systems
  • Ability to operate, lead, and make forward progress in ambiguous environments
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and mentor junior systems engineers
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; strength in teaming and collaboration
  • Experience with DOORS or other requirements management software

Preferred Qualifications

  • Management or Technical Team Lead experience in systems engineering, test, or launch operations
  • Experience with space vehicle or satellite integration with launch vehicles
  • Experience working with government agencies
  • Experience in testing, systems safety, or reliability, maintainability and operability analysis
  • Knowledge of system design relationships to element design and operations at flight and ground levels
  • Knowledge of entire product lifecycle including ground equipment, manufacturing, test, and fielded operations
