About the Role

This position is part of Advanced Concepts and Enterprise Engineering (ACE), supporting Blue Origin's mission to enable millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. As a Systems Engineer, you will own the configuration of a Reentry System and have direct impact on the design and operation of future Blue Origin missions.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to overall physical integration and packaging of structural, mechanical, fluids and avionics subsystems within the integrated vehicle
  • Create and manage interface definitions between subsystems with appropriate control documents to support major design reviews and program milestones
  • Assess design for integrated manufacturing, assembly, test and operations, and drive design to optimize for manufacturability, quality and cost
  • Support development of system requirements, flow down and verification planning
  • Coordinate regular configuration reviews addressing module level interfaces, subsystem functionality, assembly and operations
  • Lead inter-module development priorities and resolution of integration issues between lead engineers and their teams
  • Coordinate cross-functional change management process, facilitating design reviews and ensuring communication across all affected groups
  • Manage vehicle CAD models including top-down design principles, CAD structure maintenance and model export
  • Ensure team adherence to configuration management best practices and Blue Origin standards

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related subject area
  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Configuration control experience on recently developed products from early trade studies through final design, manufacturing and test
  • Strong social skills and experience working in highly integrated cross-functional team environments
  • Strong design and integration skills using 3D CAD software and experience with large assembly management (Creo Pro/E preferred)
  • Experience with component packaging of highly integrated and complex products
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience designing and developing flight proven spacecraft hardware
  • 6+ years of professional experience developing integrated systems
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T practices with tolerance stack-up analysis

Compensation

Base pay range varies by location:

  • CA: $145,188.00 to $203,263.20
  • CO: $133,500.00 to $186,898.95
  • WA: $145,188.00 to $203,263.20
  • VA: $145,188.00 to $203,263.20
  • Other site ranges may differ
