About New Glenn
New Glenn is a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.
The Role
As a Systems Engineer III, you will work on systems engineering for the New Glenn Payload Accommodations Program. You will develop, allocate, manage, and verify requirements and interfaces using tools like DOORS Next Generation and other functional analysis toolsets.
Responsibilities
- Support Vehicle and Ground System Project Leads by carrying out systems engineering activities in accordance with Blue Origin standards and practices
- Author, decompose, analyse, and trace requirements; verify them against design
- Negotiate interfaces and coordinate between internal and external stakeholders
- Develop and implement verification plans and strategies
- Lead gated reviews and support program and element level gated reviews
- Author and maintain system safety documentation including Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), Architecture Safety Assessments (ASA), Fault Tree Analyses (FTA), and Failure Mode, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECAs)
- Conduct trade studies, develop margins for allocations, manage risk, and ensure regulatory compliance
- Verify that customers have a phenomenal ride to space
Minimum Qualifications
- B.S. degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace engineering, or other technical field
- Technical hands-on experience in at least one of: Analysis, Design, or Testing
- Experience in systems engineering on launch vehicles, spacecraft, or other highly regulated industries
- Experience writing or consuming requirements
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in teams and lead through influence
- Ability to operate, make decisions, and make forward progress in ambiguous environments
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive relationships, and strengthen culture of inclusion
- Must be U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (Green Card), or lawfully admitted as refugee or granted asylum
Preferred Qualifications
- 8+ years of technical hands-on experience in Fluids, Thermal, Propulsion, Avionics, or Composite Structures
- Experience with system safety
- System integration experience, preferably with aerospace hardware
- Knowledge of current systems engineering processes and methodologies
- Experience with DOORS Next Generation
- Experience in reliability, maintainability and operability analysis
- Experience with collaboration tools such as Confluence and JIRA
Compensation and Benefits
Base Pay Range: Colorado applicants $110,938.00 - $155,312.85; Washington applicants $121,023.00 - $169,432.20. Other site ranges may differ.
