About the Role
You will work on the Zero Boil Off Turbomachinery Team as part of Blue Origin's Lunar Permanence business unit, developing systems for the Blue Moon lander. You will take on design, analysis, and test input for compressors and expanders, and work with manufacturing to solve assembly, fabrication, and non-conformance issues.
What You'll Do
- Work at significant technical depth on complex subsystems with minimal oversight
- Apply systems engineering fundamentals across the development cycle: concept development, requirements, design, analysis, validation, integration, safety, configuration management, verification, and test
- Understand and manage key Technical Performance Metrics for the system
- Support development and execution of component and subsystem analysis and tests
- Coordinate plans for subsystem level verification test and analysis
- Lead the organization and preparation of design reviews
- Maintain and communicate system level architecture diagrams and schematics
- Balance rapid development with standard systems engineering processes
- Lead trade studies, component design and integration, first-order analysis, and test support
- Mentor junior Blue Origin employees on systems engineering processes and methods
- Participate in technical and programmatic customer interactions as needed
Minimum Qualifications
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or similar
- 5+ years' experience in Systems Engineering
- Experience working on highly engineered products in rapid development environments
- Experience working with cryogenic fluids
- Understanding of Systems Engineering principles: requirements definition, requirements traceability, functional decomposition, verification, validation, interface control documents (ICD), configuration management, and systems engineering management plans (SEMP)
- Experience working with project members to drive progress toward milestones
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- M.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical subject area
- 7+ years of experience in aerospace systems engineering
- Experience with turbomachinery production, qualification testing, and flight operations
- Experience with requirements development and management tools (DOORS Next Gen, JAMA, etc.)
- Previous customer-facing roles with experience presenting to and directly interacting with customers
Compensation
Base pay range for Washington applicants: $121,023.00 - $169,432.20. Other site ranges may differ.
Additional Information
Relocation is provided. Travel is expected up to 15% of the time.
