Avionics Hardware Technician

Blue Origin Operations is seeking a Technician to provide hands-on support to Engineering, Production and Manufacturing. You will perform test, checkout, modification, fabrication and assembly of electro-mechanical systems including electronic circuits, power distribution, and safety-critical systems.

Location and Schedule

• Kent, WA
• Shift A: Monday to Thursday, 5:00am to 3:30pm
• Shift C: Friday to Sunday, 5:00am to 5:30pm
• 40-hour work week (4x10) with occasional overtime to support launch schedules
• Relocation assistance available

What You Will Do

• Assemble, repair and evaluate electrical and mechanical assemblies for spaceflight systems across all Blue Origin business units
• Build components for development, test and flight environments using schematics, diagrams and defined plans
• Perform soldering, component-level board work, mechanical assembly and assembly wiring
• Conduct operational test and fault isolation on systems and equipment
• Assist in determining methods to remedy malfunctions
• Work in laboratory settings and on manufacturing floors
• Support assembly of new and updated designs by working directly with engineering
• Provide input on manufacturing improvements and build changes for more efficient assembly
• Serve internal and external customers across multiple systems and platforms
• Inspect and certify work performed to relevant standards and specifications

Minimum Qualifications

• 3 or more years experience in Aerospace Avionics or related fields
• Familiarity with ESD EPA environments and tool control/accountability processes
• Experience using standard electronics assembly tools, hand soldering and basic electronic test equipment (multimeters and power supplies)
• Experience applying torque to fasteners and components
• Fabricating, terminating and repair/testing of wire harnesses
• Experience with application and removal of polymerics (staking, potting, encapsulation and conformal coating)
• Ability to lift 50 lbs
• U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Preferred Qualifications

• 5-7 years of experience in launch vehicle or propulsion system assembly fabrication, CCA or PCBA repair or component replacement
• Experience with energized power/high voltage systems, battery systems or RF assemblies
• Certification in and/or knowledge of IPC standards for assembly and inspection
• J-STD/J-STD Space, 610, 7711/7721 Rework and 620/620 Space Addendum
• Experience and capability to interface with Microsoft Office Suite, electronic work orders and configuration management systems
• Experience with documenting non-conformances and carrying out dispositioned repairs

Compensation

Base pay range for WA applicants: $29.91 to $41.87 per hour. Other site ranges may differ.
