Role Overview
This position supports Blue Origin's Advanced Concepts and Enterprise Engineering (ACE) team, working within Operations on integration and testing of space vehicle components and subsystems. You will perform mechanical and electrical integration, operate specialized test equipment, and provide direct feedback to engineers on design and manufacturability.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical and electrical integration of components, subsystems, and test articles including structural assemblies, mechanisms, fluid systems, harnesses, sensors, instrumentation, and power distribution hardware
- Set up, operate, and maintain vacuum systems including chamber assembly, pump-down, venting operations, leak checks, and RGA use
- Work with high-voltage and high-amperage systems including power supplies, distribution units, interlocks, and safety systems with strict adherence to lockout/tagout procedures
- Set up and operate furnaces and thermal processing equipment for thermal cycling, bake-out operations, and monitoring of temperature profiles
- Support early development and prototype hardware including building, modifying, and reworking experimental assemblies and providing feedback to engineers
- Execute test setups and operations including instrumentation installation, cabling and plumbing, test support, and post-test tear-down
- Interpret engineering documentation including drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, work instructions, and test procedures
- Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and housekeeping including FOD, ESD, and cleanliness control with accurate record-keeping
- Mentor junior technicians and contribute to team collaboration
Minimum Qualifications

- 6+ years of relevant hands-on technician experience, OR Associate's degree in a technical field (electronics, mechanical, aerospace, manufacturing) plus 4+ years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated experience with vacuum systems (pumps, gauges, valves, leak-checking), high-voltage and high-amperage systems in industrial or R&D environments, and mechanical assembly using standard hand and power tools
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, work instructions, and test procedures
- Proficiency with common shop and test equipment (torque tools, multimeters, oscilloscopes, data acquisition interfaces, pressure gauges)
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to work occasional overtime, off-shifts, and weekends
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in confined spaces, at heights, and around noisy or hazardous equipment with proper PPE and training
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted as a refugee or granted asylum
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in aerospace, spaceflight, or other high-reliability industries (aviation, defense, semiconductor, nuclear)
- Hands-on experience with vacuum chambers, cryopumps, turbomolecular pumps, RGA or helium leak detection, high-power DC and AC systems (>600 V or hundreds of amps), and furnaces or thermal processing equipment
- Familiarity with ESD control, FOD prevention, contamination control standards, and cleanroom or controlled-environment work practices
- Experience with early development hardware including rapid prototyping and frequent design changes with ability to provide feedback to engineering
- Basic computer skills including ERP/MES or work order systems, digital work instructions, and data entry and report writing
