Role Overview
You will provide hands-on support to Engineering and Manufacturing by performing test, checkout, modification, fabrication, and assembly of RF Antennas, IR/Visible Light cameras, and LIDAR systems for lunar vehicles. Work includes PCBA assembly and rework, internal cable harness fabrication, precision assembly of optical and laser components, and general mechanical assembly.
You will work from schematics, diagrams, and layouts to perform testing, checkout, and troubleshooting functions. You will perform operational tests and fault isolation on systems and equipment, and assist in determining methods to remedy malfunctions. Work takes place in laboratory settings, on the manufacturing floor, and on vehicles depending on production needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble different components and assemblies for lunar vehicles across development, test, and flight environments
- Work directly with engineering to determine best assembly practices and update work instructions
- Provide input on manufacturing improvements and build changes to increase assembly efficiency
- Perform soldering, component-level board work, mechanical assembly, and assembly wiring with high technical proficiency
- Inspect and certify work to relevant standards and specifications
- Serve internal and external customers across multiple systems and platforms
Minimum Qualifications
- 3 or more years' experience in aerospace avionics or related fields
- Familiarity with ESD EPA work environments and tool control processes
- Experience with standard electronics assembly tools, hand soldering, and basic electronic test equipment (multimeters, power supplies)
- Experience applying torque to fasteners and components
- Experience fabricating, terminating, and repairing/testing wire harnesses
- Experience with application and removal of polymerics (staking, potting, encapsulation, conformal coating)
- Ability to inspect and certify work to relevant standards and specifications
- Able to lift 50 lbs
- Ability to work 40-hour weeks (4x10 hour days) with occasional overtime to support launch schedules
- Attention to detail and passion for space
Preferred Qualifications
- 5-7 years of experience in launch vehicle or propulsion system assembly fabrication, CCA, or PCBA repair or component replacement
- Experience with RF assemblies, camera optical systems, and LIDAR systems
- Clean room experience, specifically Class 7 operations
- Certification in or knowledge of IPC standards for assembly and inspection including J-STD, J-STD Space, 610, 7711/7721 Rework, and 620/620 Space Addendum
- Laser experience including optical system work, laser safety, and laser output characterization measurements
- Capability to perform calibration and characterization of imaging systems (MTF, distortion, color accuracy, stray light performance)
- Assembly and fine alignment of optical elements including component inspection, adhesive/epoxy application, and verification using test equipment (lens alignment stations, alignment telescopes, theodolites, interferometers, collimators)
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, electronic work orders, and configuration management systems
- Experience documenting non-conformances and carrying out dispositioned repairs

Compensation
Base pay range for WA applicants: $29.91 - $41.87 per hour. Other site ranges may differ.
