Role Overview

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, supporting composite manufacturing and integration across all facilities. You will contribute technical expertise and full lifecycle ownership of composite manufacturing, from layup through mechanical integration. Your work is vital to Blue Origin's spaceflight operations, ensuring composite hardware meets the highest quality standards.

What You Will Do

  • Prepare production work areas with tooling and equipment to ensure efficient workflow and minimize delays during high-rate manufacturing transitions.
  • Perform layup, bagging, curing, trimming, drilling, and assembly of composite components following blueprints and specifications.
  • Integrate composite hardware into vehicles and subsystems, ensuring proper fit, finish, and mechanical integrity throughout the lifecycle.
  • Operate material handling equipment (forklifts, cranes) and precision tools (torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, laser tracker, optical instruments).
  • Lead and support continuous improvement projects targeting safety, quality, and efficiency in composite manufacturing and integration.
  • Conduct troubleshooting, repairs, and routine maintenance of composite hardware and shop equipment.
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas in adherence to 5S principles.
  • Apply specialty materials including adhesives, sealants, paints, primers, and thermal blankets on composite structures.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to resolve design, integration, and production challenges.
  • Document process steps, inspections, test results, and anomalies in accordance with quality standards.
  • Support transition from development to full-scale production, participating in process validation and improvement efforts.
  • Participate in training, emergency response, and critical operations as needed.

Position Details

  • Location: Space Coast, FL
  • Shifts: Shift A (Mon-Thurs 5:00 AM-3:30 PM), Shift B (Mon-Thurs 3:00 PM-1:30 AM), Shift C (Fri-Sun 5:00 AM-5:30 PM)
  • Relocation assistance available

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing, composite fabrication, integration, or related technical field (0-3 years for Level I Technician, 3+ years for Level II, 5+ years for Level III, 8+ years for Senior Level Technician)
  • Ability to accurately interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Proficiency with precision calibration tools: torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, laser trackers, and optical measurement devices
  • Hands-on experience with adhesives, sealants, paints, primers, and thermal blankets in composite applications
  • Composite layup experience: Carbon Pre-Preg, Carbon fibers, Fiberglass, and Hand Layups
  • Carbon composites cutting and drilling operations
  • Comfortable lifting up to 50lbs and working at heights or in confined spaces as required
  • Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office applications
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry certifications, trade school training, or degree in a related technical field
  • Operation or support of large specialized equipment (Roll Wrap machines, large ovens, robotic operations, trim and drill equipment)
  • Demonstrated success leading or supporting complex integration tasks in composite manufacturing
  • Experience with curing processes and production control systems
  • Clean room manufacturing experience and 5S environment maintenance
  • High-rate manufacturing methods and cycle time experience
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification
  • New product introduction and process optimization for production scale-up
  • Proven continuous improvement mindset and initiative
  • Willingness to work overtime and respond flexibly to production needs
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills within technical teams
