About the role
Join Blue Origin's Launch Operations team as a Test Engineer II to perform operations and maintenance on ground support equipment. You will test, maintain, inspect, and troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, cryogenic, and electrical equipment that supports New Glenn launch infrastructure.
What you will do
- Ensure launch facility components are properly maintained to support launch activities
- Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable test and maintenance processes
- Develop and maintain test documentation, work instructions, and inspection plans for routine and corrective maintenance
- Perform pre-flight verification testing, post-launch inspections, and post-flight ground system data review
- Draft and review work orders for routine and corrective maintenance procedures
- Support root cause analysis of process or product non-conformances and develop corrective actions
- Collaborate with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production teams
- Implement and commission engineering design changes that improve safety or reliability
- Ensure all work aligns with AS9100, ISO 9001, and applicable safety standards
- Identify opportunities for efficiency gains and cost reduction
Required qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical, Electrical, Computer Engineering, or related technical field from an accredited university
- 3 or more years of experience supporting test teams as a fluids test engineer, console operator, or equivalent hands-on role
- Working knowledge of pressurized gas systems, cryogenics, fluid systems, hydraulics, instrumentation and controls, or structural components
- Experience troubleshooting hardware and instrumentation related to fluid, mechanical, and electrical systems (hydraulics, pneumatics, cryogenics)
- Ability to read schematics and P&IDs
- 1 or more years of experience developing English work instructions or test procedures for upgrades, maintenance, and system performance verification
- Strong commitment to safety and proven ability to execute or oversee multiple projects in a dynamic environment
- Ability to support off-shift, extended hours, and weekends as required for mission milestones
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with cryogenics, monopropellants, hydraulics, or high-pressure systems
- Experience testing and integrating fluid systems, ground support systems, and propulsion hardware
- Experience developing and verifying installation and operation procedures for mechanical, fluid, or electrical systems
- Experience with automated test equipment, calibration, and configuration management
- Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and fluid design and verification fundamentals
- Proficiency in LabVIEW, Python, MATLAB, or related control and data acquisition software
- Experience with electronics, transducers, programmable logic controllers, and software systems
- Experience leveraging AI for data review and test automation
- Background in hazardous operations, design for safety, and MIL-STD-810 and AS9100 standards
- Hands-on experience with 3D CAD tools, fabrication, and integration processes
Position details
Location: Space Coast, FL. Relocation assistance available.
Shift options: A (Mon-Fri 6am-2:30pm), B (Mon-Fri 2pm-10:30pm), C (Fri-Sun 6am-6:30pm), D (Fri-Sun 6pm-6:30am). Focus on shifts B, C, and D.
