The Role
Join Honeybee Robotics' Test Department as a Test Engineer III supporting Blue Moon MK2 lunar lander development. You will design, develop, and validate Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) and automated test software to power, command, and measure space mechanisms. This combines test strategy, hands-on operations, data analysis, and troubleshooting.
What You Will Do
- Design and develop EGSE to electrically interface with, power, command, and measure mechanisms under test
- Develop test software and automated sequences (Python, LabVIEW) to orchestrate testing, collect data, and monitor results in real-time
- Design, set up, and operate test fixtures, ground support equipment, and data acquisition systems for electromechanical testing
- Analyze test data, identify anomalies and root causes, and communicate findings to engineering and project teams
- Support test readiness reviews (TRRs), test anomaly investigations, and failure review boards (FRBs)
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment including motor controllers, torque sensors, encoders, load cells, and multi-channel data acquisition systems
- Interface with customers, suppliers, and external test facilities to support program milestones
Your Background
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or closely related technical discipline
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience developing EGSE, automated test equipment (ATE), and test software for hardware testing (aerospace or electromechanical systems preferred)
- Ability to read, interpret, and develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and interface control documents
- Proficiency in one programming language (Python, LabVIEW, C#) for test software and automated test sequences
- Experience with data acquisition systems and instrumentation (load cells, torque sensors, encoders, thermocouples, accelerometers)
- Demonstrated ability to analyze test data, identify anomalies, and drive resolution through structured problem-solving
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting and presenting technical findings
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted as a refugee or granted asylum
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- Experience developing test software to NASA NPR 7150.2D (NASA Software Engineering Requirements) or equivalent standards
- Familiarity with motion control and power transfer systems: brushless DC motors, slip rings, flex harnesses, motor drive electronics
- Radio Frequency testing fundamentals (Vector Network Analysis)
- Proficiency with MATLAB, Python, or equivalent data analysis tools
- Experience with test automation and scripting
- Familiarity with environmental test standards (MIL-STD-810, GEVS/GSFC-STD-7000) or aerospace qualification standards
- Version control systems (Git) and software development best practices
- Knowledge of AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality management systems
- Model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools or requirements management (DOORS, Jama)
- Experience supporting test campaigns at external facilities or customer sites
- Prior space hardware development environment exposure with full product lifecycle testing
Compensation and Benefits
Base pay for Colorado applicants: $110,938.00-$155,312.85. Other site ranges may differ.
