Testbed Development Engineer – Lunar Vehicles Verified today
The Role
You will develop a Hardware in the Loop Avionics testbed for a Blue Moon lunar space vehicle, used for development and verification testing. You will create test plans and procedures, and support the design of the testbed as a verification tool that tests electronic hardware and software in a fast-paced environment.
This position requires on-site work at Kent, WA due to hands-on testbed development.
Responsibilities
- Participate in requirements, design, architecture, procurement, build, integration, and checkout of the Vehicle Test Bed (VTB)
- Support integration of flight avionics hardware, ground support equipment, operator consoles, and analysis tooling to verify avionics unit requirements and performance
- Select and procure electrical equipment to emulate flight hardware
- Create harness drawings and lead harness procurement activities
- Design rack hardware to support articles under test
- Integrate electrical and mechanical hardware with flight and ground software to create a fully functional integrated testbed
- Support design and development of Special Test Equipment (STE) and integrate Ground Support Equipment (GSE) to simulate, stimulate, or capture output from Articles Under Test (AUTs)
- Collaborate with software engineers to integrate hardware simulation and fault injection solutions with real-time vehicle simulations
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, or related technical discipline
- 5+ years of relevant experience
- Experience integrating and testing vehicle testbeds or vehicle electrical systems
- Experience developing special electronic test equipment and troubleshooting equipment
- Experience with Zuken or other electrical design software
- Experience designing test harnessing
- Proficient in use of standard electronic lab test and troubleshooting equipment
- Ability to thrive as a member of a small, tightly integrated team
- Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Desired Qualifications
- M.S. degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, or related technical discipline
- 8+ years of relevant experience
- Experience with development and execution of large-scale verification of avionics on autonomous spaceflight systems
- Experience supporting testbeds for spaceflight systems
- Programming experience in C++ and/or Python; Simulink experience
Compensation and Location
Base pay range for WA applicants: $121,023.00 to $169,432.20 annually. Other site ranges may differ.
