About the role

You will support the Lunar Permanence Integration & Test team developing, accepting, and qualifying flight hardware for the MK1 and MK2 Lunar Landers. This is hands-on work applying fluids, thermal, mechanical, and electrical engineering knowledge to safe human spaceflight.

What you will do

  • Plan and execute fluids and thermal component and subsystem tests, including development, qualification, acceptance, performance, and environmental testing
  • Execute test procedures and identify test events, equipment, and facility needs
  • Apply experience with test facility instrumentation and Data Acquisition and Control Systems
  • Create and review Test Plans, Test Procedures, safety assessments, and schematics
  • Design, procure, and install test support equipment; manage vendors and subcontractors
  • Troubleshoot issues during testing
  • Participate in test readiness reviews, pre- and post-test briefings, and post-test reviews
  • Manage procedural redlines and updates during test campaigns
  • Coordinate test crews, support equipment, and vehicle configurations
  • Enforce safety policies during test planning and operations
  • Reduce, analyze, and archive test data
  • Integrate between fluids and thermal subsystems and overall vehicle level to ensure compliance with vehicle test plans

Minimum qualifications

  • BS in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related technical discipline
  • 2+ years of relevant testing experience including pumps, valves, thermal control elements, propulsion elements, sensors, pneumatic/hydraulic fluids, and/or piping
  • Solid understanding of pumped fluid loops and thermal hardware such as pressurized systems, actuators, heat exchangers, radiators
  • Experience with space vehicle component or subsystem testing including structural, vibe, acoustic, modal
  • Experience reading P&ID schematics and layout designs
  • Understanding of the Test Like You Fly assessment and exception process
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills
  • Experience working collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment
  • Ability to support shift work as needed
  • Strong safety record
  • Ability to demonstrate high standards in test operations and work cooperatively with Integration Engineers, Responsible Engineers, and customers

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with aerospace flight hardware
  • Technical expertise in test stand design, operations, and maintenance
  • Experience utilizing space and industry standards such as MIL-STD-810, SMC-S-016, MIL-STD-1540
  • Knowledge of cryogenics and monopropellants
  • Experience executing component testing at rate
  • Instrumentation and controls and data acquisition systems experience, with National Instruments hardware preference
  • Knowledge of systems engineering practices, fabrication and integration processes, and quality control
  • Understanding and experience with hazardous operations and design for system safety
  • Strong Project Management skills including budgeting and schedule development
  • Experience with 3D CAD tools, LabView, MATLAB, and data management

Travel and relocation

Expected 25% travel during test planning. Probable travel of 75% during integration and test periods at multiple offsite locations. Relocation provided.

Compensation and benefits

Base pay range for WA applicants: $99,201 to $138,880.35. Other site ranges may differ.
