About the Role
You will join the Lunar Core Components Heat Transfer team as a key thermal engineer developing Blue Origin's Blue Moon landers and lunar infrastructure. You will apply thermal hardware expertise to lunar vehicle architectures, designing groundbreaking thermal components and driving those designs through build, test, and verification.
What You Will Do
- Provide thermal hardware expertise to lunar vehicle architectures
- Design, size, build, and test thermal hardware for lunar landers
- Work across cross-functional teams to deliver results
- Apply heat transfer and fluid system fundamentals to spacecraft problems
- Support aerospace hardware verification and validation processes
Required Qualifications
- B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
- 5+ years of relevant thermal engineering experience
- Strong grasp of heat transfer and fluid system fundamentals
- Familiarity with heat exchangers, cold plates, radiators, and common spacecraft hardware
- Demonstrated experience designing, sizing, building, and testing hardware
- Understanding of aerospace hardware verification and validation process
- Moderate experience with CAD software, preferably Creo
- Familiarity with computational fluid dynamic (CFD) simulation methods for component-level analysis
Desired Qualifications
- M.S. or PhD degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
- 7+ years of relevant aerospace experience
- Solid understanding of pumped fluid loop hardware such as pumps, cold plates, radiators, valves, heat exchangers, and semi-passive devices like sensors and heaters
- Familiarity with relevant standards such as AS9100D, ASME, SAE, AWS and ANSI Y14.5 specifications
- Experience solving a variety of thermal problems demonstrating breadth in application
- Vendor technical management experience
- Design for manufacturability and assembly experience
- Experience developing component specifications
- Demonstrated experience in Creo modeling and drawing creation
- Familiarity with Thermal Desktop and Sinda/Fluint, including model validation and test correlation
- CFD optimization experience with cold plates, heat exchangers, and radiators
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools experience
Compensation and Location
Base pay range varies by location: CA $130,706 to $182,987.70; CO $119,814 to $167,738.55; WA $130,706 to $182,987.70. Other site ranges may differ.
