About the Role
You will join the Lunar Permanence business unit as part of the Lunar Core Components Heat Transfer team, applying thermal hardware expertise to Blue Origin's Blue Moon lander architectures. You'll contribute to developing groundbreaking thermal hardware while driving designs through build, test, and verification phases.
Your Responsibilities
- Design, size, build, and test thermal hardware components for lunar vehicles
- Provide thermal engineering expertise to lunar vehicle architecture teams
- Apply heat transfer and fluid system fundamentals to component and system-level problems
- Work across functional teams to deliver verified thermal solutions
- Support aerospace hardware verification and validation processes
Required Qualifications
- B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
- 3+ years of relevant thermal engineering experience
- Strong grasp of heat transfer and fluid system fundamentals
- Familiarity with heat exchangers, cold plates, radiators, and spacecraft thermal hardware
- Demonstrated experience designing, sizing, building, and testing hardware
- Understanding of aerospace hardware verification and validation processes
- Moderate CAD experience (preferably Creo)
- Familiarity with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation for component-level analysis
- Experience in cross-functional teams
Desired Qualifications
- M.S. or Ph.D. in mechanical or aerospace engineering
- 5+ years of relevant aerospace experience
- Solid understanding of pumped fluid loop hardware: pumps, cold plates, radiators, valves, heat exchangers, sensors, and heaters
- Familiarity with standards: AS9100D, ASME, SAE, AWS, ANSI Y14.5
- Experience solving diverse thermal problems
- Vendor technical management experience
- Design for manufacturability and assembly experience
- Component specification development experience
- Advanced Creo modeling and drawing creation skills
- Thermal Desktop and Sinda/Fluint experience including model validation and test correlation
- CFD optimization of cold plates, heat exchangers, and radiators
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools experience

- CA: $87,816.00 - $122,942.40
- CO: $80,499.00 - $112,697.55
