About this role

You'll work in Blue Origin Operations as a Shift Leader, directly managing integration engineers and production personnel on C-shift. Your leadership will guide the team to define the future of spaceflight production, supporting engine programs with high-value parts while maintaining an uncompromising commitment to safety and repeatability.

What you'll do

  • Lead and conduct performance reviews for your shift team
  • Support recruiting efforts through technical screens and panel interviews
  • Establish workstation assignments, employee training schedules, and overtime assignments
  • Maintain and communicate work center schedule status to meet customer expectations
  • Provide first-level escalation support for HR issues including employee relations, worker's compensation, disciplinary actions, and PTO requests
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities and implement changes to reduce cycle and setup times
  • Maintain work center programs including 5S, Lean, cleaning, and safety protocols
  • Ensure all team members follow work instructions, quality requirements, and processes
  • Record accurate technician staff data, including clock-in/clock-out activities
  • Provide ongoing training and skills development; mentor early-career team members
  • Ensure production start-up readiness
  • Work safely within an industrial environment

Minimum qualifications

  • 1+ years managing a team in manufacturing or aerospace, OR 3+ years as an individual contributor in manufacturing or aerospace
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to analyze data and metrics to drive operational improvements
  • Proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with root cause and corrective action analysis
  • Understanding of department KPIs and metrics for performance improvement
  • Strong customer focus and communication skills
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Clear understanding of production versus development environments
  • Fluent in use of precision hand tools
  • Familiarity with personal computers
  • Self-motivation and ability to prioritize to meet completion dates
  • Must be U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident (Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted as refugee or with asylum status

Preferred qualifications

  • Industry certification, trade school training, or degree in related field
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing, integration, or relevant field
  • Experience with fluid systems and applied chemistry fundamentals
  • Knowledge of advanced manufacturing technologies and tools (CAD software, ERP systems)
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Familiarity with aerospace manufacturing regulatory compliance
  • Proven track record of successful team leadership and project management
  • Strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and practices
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification
  • Willingness to work overtime
  • Strong experience with fluids and mechanical systems
  • Knowledge of installation and assembly tolerances
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, aerospace, military, or equivalent experience

Compensation and benefits

Base pay range for Washington applicants: $113,158.00 to $158,420.85 (other site ranges may differ)

Benefits include: medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, paid parental leave, short and long-term disability, 401(k) with company match up to 5%, and Education Support Program. Stock options for all regular employees working at least 20 hours per week. Paid Time Off: up to four weeks per year based on scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays. Employees may be eligible for performance-based bonuses.
