About the Role
CesiumAstro develops communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms. As Principal Electrical Engineer, you will shape the organization's most critical engineering initiatives, providing technical leadership across multiple programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Define enterprise engineering strategies, architectures, design methodologies, and technology roadmaps
- Guide and mentor development teams in detailed design of systems, subsystems, subassemblies, and critical parts
- Establish organizational standards for electrical design practices and verification approaches
- Evaluate performance, simulation results, and qualification testing to strengthen product reliability and mission success
- Serve as principal advisor to engineering, manufacturing, integration, test, quality, program teams, and executive leadership on technical decisions
- Resolve complex engineering challenges and friction points between functional organizations
- Champion adoption of advanced engineering practices, design technologies, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Lead transformational initiatives that enhance engineering performance, efficiency, manufacturability, and long-term technical capability
- Advance engineering practices across the organization by mentoring senior engineers
- Provide post-production and in-orbit customer support
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with 15-19 years of related experience, or Master's degree with 12-17 years of related experience in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, computer engineering, or related field
- Organizational expertise in engineering design and fabrication principles
- Extensive experience defining enterprise-level hardware development and fabrication strategies
- Expert understanding of signal integrity, EMI/EMC, hardware integration, qualification testing, system interfaces, and multidisciplinary integration
- Proven ability to evaluate enterprise design performance, engineering risks, and technical methodologies
- Sound judgment in defining enterprise engineering direction and advising executive leadership on strategic decisions
- Proficiency in electronic design automation (EDA), circuit simulation, and analysis tools such as Altium Designer, OrCAD, LTspice, MATLAB, or equivalent
- Strong experience in engineering analysis, configuration management, and collaboration tools such as Windchill, Git, Jira, or equivalent
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Employment Details
Full-time position based in Austin, TX.
