CesiumAstro develops communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and airborne platforms. We seek a Quality Assurance Associate II to join our integrated team and own inspection, metrology, and quality control for high-reliability products.

Your Responsibilities

  • Execute quality control processes for purchased materials, manufacturing operations, and customer requirements.
  • Inspect parts, assemblies, and finished products using calipers, height gauges, thread gauges, CMM, and VMM equipment per approved procedures and drawings.
  • Program, maintain, and operate automated inspection equipment including CMMs, inspection arms, XRF systems, X-ray equipment, and visual inspection systems.
  • Perform equipment calibration and metrology for Quality, Production, and Test activities.
  • Document inspection activities using electronic systems, written logs, and labels.
  • Handle nonconforming material disposition and assist with Material Review Board (MRB) control.
  • Create and update quality processes for inspection, measurement system analysis (MSA), calibration, and data analysis.
  • Drive resolution of internal and external nonconformances using root cause analysis, corrective action, and 8D methodologies.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to identify issues, implement corrective actions, and improve inspection methods and procedures.
  • Conduct data analysis and metrics reporting to support quality objectives and operational decisions.
  • Support internal, customer, and regulatory audit resolution.
  • Perform additional quality control duties and special projects as assigned.

What We Need

  • 2-5 years experience in manufacturing quality, metrology, and failure analysis.
  • Associate degree in a technical field preferred; high school diploma or equivalent minimum.
  • Experience in aerospace, electronics, or defense industries.
  • Hands-on experience with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), metrology arms, Keyence systems, or similar inspection equipment.
  • Experience with calibration systems and metrology practices preferred.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 or ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, CAD models, GD&T, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Experience with microscopic visual inspection.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures and specifications.
  • Strong analytical, written, verbal, and digital communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively across functions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in regulated manufacturing environments such as aerospace, defense, automotive, or medical device industries.
  • J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, or IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification.
