CesiumAstro develops communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and airborne platforms. We're looking for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to take ownership of software design and delivery across our product line.

What You'll Do

You will be responsible for low-level and high-level software through all phases of development. Key projects include Linux-based single-board computers and high-reliability microcontroller systems. Your work will span:

  • Designing and implementing embedded software from requirements to production deployment
  • Developing, coding, testing, debugging, and documenting system software
  • Reviewing code and system designs for quality and performance
  • Analyzing code for efficiency, stability, and scalability
  • Integrating and validating new product designs
  • Supporting software quality assurance and optimizing I/O performance
  • Providing post-production and in-orbit customer support
  • Interfacing with hardware design and development teams
  • Assessing third-party and open-source software components
  • Presenting design reviews to customers and leadership
  • Contributing to proposal-writing efforts

Required Experience

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) or Master of Science (MS) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of industry software development experience
  • Hands-on embedded hardware development and troubleshooting
  • API design for FPGA interfacing
  • Experience with aerospace applications
  • Programming in C or C++
  • Embedded systems design using preemptive, multitasking real-time operating systems (real-time Linux desirable)
  • Familiarity with software configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, and peer review processes
  • Strong knowledge of real-time system coding techniques, IP protocols, interfaces, and hardware subsystems
  • Understanding of multi-threaded applications and resource management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Experience

  • Ability to read electronics schematics and component data sheets
  • Experience with ARM processors and fully-featured microcontrollers
  • Software Development Kit (SDK) design and development
