CesiumAstro develops communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms. We seek a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to design and deliver low-level and high-level software through all phases of development.

Your Responsibilities

  • Design and implement embedded software for devices and systems, from requirements to production and commercial deployment.
  • Develop, code, test, debug, and document system software across the full stack: microcontrollers, drivers, board support packages, applications, and user interfaces.
  • Review code and system designs; analyse code for efficiency, stability, and scalability.
  • Integrate and validate new product designs; support software quality assurance and I/O performance optimisation.
  • Provide post-production and in-orbit customer support.
  • Interface with hardware design and development engineers; assess third-party and open-source software.
  • Present engineering design review materials to customers and executive leadership; participate in proposal writing.

Your Background

  • Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years industry experience in software development.
  • Hands-on embedded hardware development and troubleshooting; API design for FPGA interfacing.
  • Experience with aerospace products.
  • Proficiency in C or C++.
  • Embedded systems design with preemptive, multitasking real-time operating systems (real-time Linux desirable).
  • Familiarity with software configuration management tools, defect tracking, and peer review.
  • Expert knowledge of real-time system coding techniques, IP protocols, interfaces, and hardware subsystems.
  • Expert understanding of multi-threaded applications and resource management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Reading electronics schematics and component datasheets.
  • ARM processors and fully-featured microcontrollers.
  • Software Development Kit (SDK) design and development.
