CesiumAstro develops communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms. We're seeking an embedded software engineer to take responsibility for low-level and high-level software in our products through all phases of development.

What you will do

  • Design and implement embedded software for devices and systems, from requirements through production and commercial deployment.
  • Design, develop, code, test, debug, and document system software for Linux-based systems and microcontrollers.
  • Review code and system designs for efficiency, stability, and scalability.
  • Integrate and validate new product designs.
  • Support software quality assurance and optimize I/O performance.
  • Provide in-orbit customer support and post-production troubleshooting.
  • Interface with hardware design and development engineers.
  • Assess third-party and open-source software for integration.
  • Present engineering design review materials to customers and executive team.
  • Participate in proposal-writing efforts.

What you will need

  • Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of industry experience in software development.
  • Hands-on development and troubleshooting experience with embedded hardware.
  • API design experience for interfacing with FPGAs.
  • Experience with products for aerospace applications.
  • Programming experience in C or C++.
  • Embedded systems design with preemptive, multitasking real-time operating systems (real-time Linux experience desirable).
  • Familiarity with software configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, and peer review.
  • Knowledge of real-time system coding techniques, IP protocols, interfaces, and hardware subsystems.
  • Understanding of multi-threaded applications and resource management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred experience

  • Reading electronics schematics and component data sheets.
  • ARM processors and fully-featured microcontrollers.
  • Design and development of Software Development Kits (SDK).
