Senior Embedded Software Engineer Verified today
CesiumAstro develops communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms. We're seeking an embedded software engineer to take responsibility for low-level and high-level software in our products through all phases of development.
What you will do
- Design and implement embedded software for devices and systems, from requirements through production and commercial deployment.
- Design, develop, code, test, debug, and document system software for Linux-based systems and microcontrollers.
- Review code and system designs for efficiency, stability, and scalability.
- Integrate and validate new product designs.
- Support software quality assurance and optimize I/O performance.
- Provide in-orbit customer support and post-production troubleshooting.
- Interface with hardware design and development engineers.
- Assess third-party and open-source software for integration.
- Present engineering design review materials to customers and executive team.
- Participate in proposal-writing efforts.
What you will need
- Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of industry experience in software development.
- Hands-on development and troubleshooting experience with embedded hardware.
- API design experience for interfacing with FPGAs.
- Experience with products for aerospace applications.
- Programming experience in C or C++.
- Embedded systems design with preemptive, multitasking real-time operating systems (real-time Linux experience desirable).
- Familiarity with software configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, and peer review.
- Knowledge of real-time system coding techniques, IP protocols, interfaces, and hardware subsystems.
- Understanding of multi-threaded applications and resource management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred experience
- Reading electronics schematics and component data sheets.
- ARM processors and fully-featured microcontrollers.
- Design and development of Software Development Kits (SDK).
