About the Role
CesiumAstro develops communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and aerospace platforms. As Senior Environmental Test Engineer, you will own the design, execution, and continuous improvement of environmental test operations for our space-grade electronics and structures.
Key Responsibilities
- Create hardware test procedures and ensure test readiness for environmental test campaigns
- Develop standard operating procedures for environmental test technicians
- Design and implement test equipment automation to improve efficiency and throughput
- Identify and qualify environmental test equipment and processes to support high reliability production
- Troubleshoot hardware defects, test equipment anomalies, and software problems; implement permanent corrective actions
- Execute improvement initiatives to reduce lead time, labour hours, and cost while maintaining personnel safety and product quality
- Enable production autonomy by simplifying processes and automating actions
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline
- Minimum 5 years related hardware test experience in aerospace industry
- Operating and maintaining thermal chambers, TVAC chambers, and/or vibration shakers
- Experience with test instrumentation (thermocouples, accelerometers, pressure transducers)
- Familiarity with RTCA DO-160G, MIL-STD standards, GEVS, SMC
- Strong written and verbal communication and peer collaboration skills
Preferred Experience
- Demonstrated ability to scale production rate capability
- RTCA DO-160 aerospace environmental qualification campaign experience (humidity, temperature, altitude, vibration, acceleration, shock, salt fog, icing, sand and dust, waterproofness, fluids susceptibility)
- Hardware automation using Python, C++, or similar languages
