About the role

CesiumAstro develops communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms. We are seeking a Senior RF Test Engineer to design, analyze, and implement engineering test plans and procedures for leading-edge satellite and spacecraft systems.

You will be responsible for architecting RF test systems, developing test requirements, and implementing automated test procedures. You'll work closely with design and test engineering teams, manage lab equipment, and guide key equipment purchase decisions. Senior-level responsibilities include drawing insightful conclusions from test results, participating in design-for-test planning from early product development stages, and presenting engineering design review materials to customers and executive leadership.

Core responsibilities

  • Collaborate with design and test engineering teams to develop test requirements
  • Map requirements to reusable test architectures and procedures
  • Implement test plans and procedures with automation and scripting
  • Log and present results to key stakeholders
  • Manage lab equipment and guide equipment purchase decisions
  • Participate in proposal-writing efforts
  • Present design review materials to customers and executive team

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science or higher in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 5 years of RF test systems experience (with BS) or 4 years (with MS degree)
  • Industry experience in design, analysis, and implementation of RF test systems
  • High proficiency with RF measurements: Linearity, NSD, EVM, and related metrics
  • Test architecture design and development including scripting, test executives, hardware, and measurement abstraction layers
  • Proficiency with statistics and metrology as related to RF test design
  • Hands-on experience with lab instruments: digital oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, RF signal generators, vector signal analyzers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred experience

  • Phased array testing
  • Programming or scripting: Python, MATLAB, C/C++
  • Understanding of RF and mixed-signal hardware: amplifiers, filters, ADCs/DACs, antennas and their effects on test design
