Senior Staff Embedded Software Engineer - SATCOM Verified today
CesiumAstro develops communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and airborne platforms. The Skylark product line focuses on active phased array antennas (AESA) for ground terminals and aerospace connectivity applications.
We seek a Senior Staff Embedded Software Engineer to lead low-level and high-level software development across the full product lifecycle. You will own Linux-based single-board computers and high-reliability microcontroller systems, from requirements through production and customer support.
Your Responsibilities
- Design and implement embedded software from requirements to production and commercial deployment.
- Develop software across the stack: microcontrollers, drivers, board support packages, applications, and user interfaces.
- Lead design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation of system software.
- Review code and system designs for efficiency, stability, and scalability.
- Integrate and validate new product designs.
- Support software quality assurance and optimize I/O performance.
- Provide post-production and in-orbit customer support.
- Interface with hardware design and development engineers.
- Assess third-party and open-source software.
- Present engineering design reviews to customers and executive team.
- Participate in proposal-writing efforts.
Required Experience
- Bachelor of Science (BS) or Master of Science (MS) degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
- Minimum 12 years of industry experience in software development.
- Hands-on development and troubleshooting of embedded hardware.
- API design for interfacing with FPGAs.
- Extensive programming in C and an object-oriented language, preferably C++.
- Embedded systems design with preemptive, multitasking real-time operating systems (real-time Linux desirable).
- Software configuration management tools, defect tracking, and peer review processes.
- Real-time system coding techniques, IP protocols, interfaces, and hardware subsystems.
- Multi-threaded applications and resource management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Aerospace product development experience.
- Reading electronics schematics and component datasheets.
- ARM processors and fully-featured microcontrollers.
- Software Development Kit (SDK) design and development.
