Senior Wire Harness Design Engineer Verified today

CesiumAstro develops communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms. We are seeking a Senior Wire Harness Design Engineer to join our team in Austin, TX.

The Role

You will design the critical power, digital, analog, and RF interconnects that turn boxes into systems. Taking full ownership of wire harness designs, you will manage schematic development, cable routing, connector selection, and harness assembly drawings. The environment is highly collaborative, working directly with electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and harness assembly technicians.

Responsibilities include:

• Define specifications and execute the complete design process from initial concept through integration and test
• Conduct thorough analysis and testing of wire harness designs to ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and performance requirements
• Participate in design reviews, providing technical expertise to enhance performance and reliability
• Apply hands-on expertise with lab instruments including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and electronic loads

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
• 5 years of relevant industry or university research experience
• Proficiency in harness design tools such as RapidHarness
• Solid understanding of electrical engineering principles, wire routing, controlled impedance, cable shielding, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)
• Knowledge of industry standards such as IPC-WHMA-A-620 and ISO 9001
• Extensive hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and electronic loads
• Detail-oriented with high accuracy in design documentation and technical specifications
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills
• Aerospace industry experience

Preferred Experience

• Experience designing for space environments
• Hands-on experience assembling wire harnesses
