Staff Assembly, Integration & Test (AIT) Engineer - EGSE Verified today

About the role

CesiumAstro is seeking a Staff Assembly, Integration & Test (AIT) Engineer with expertise in Electrical Ground Systems Test. You will provide technical leadership and peer guidance in the lab, supporting AIT operations for leading-edge spacecraft and aerospace communication systems.

Key responsibilities

• Define requirements, designs, and provide ongoing support for electrical ground support equipment (EGSE) development for testing satellites.
• Work with Systems Engineering to establish test plans and maintain requirements verification test matrix.
• Work with Program Management to build AIT schedules that inform master schedules.
• Validate all electrical interfaces between test equipment and flight hardware.
• Provide expert guidance and peer review for satellite assembly, integration, and test campaigns.
• Develop and execute acceptance and qualification testing including vibration, acoustic, shock, propulsion static fires, EMI/EMC, RF, self-compatibility, ground compatibility, day in the life (DITL), and thermal vacuum testing.
• Lead anomaly reporting, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues during sub-system and component integration and test.
• Lead and participate in integration and test readiness reviews and post-operational briefings.
• Analyze, document, and present integration and test data to support verification activities.
• Author test procedures and lead or conduct test activities.
• Support satellite AIT and launch operations effort including sequence of activities, facilities, special test equipment, personnel, schedule, risks, and opportunities.
• Work independently and in teams to achieve integration and test objectives.
• Identify, support, and help enforce safety policies and practices for assembly, integration, and test activities.
• Work onsite in the lab and cleanroom daily for AIT operations.

Required qualifications

• B.S. degree in aerospace, electrical, or related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 8 years experience including prior significant roles on spacecraft or related systems assembly, integration and test operations.
• Prior experience in multiple stages of satellite and component/GSE development including early design for test, test operations, and operational missions.
• Experience in requirements management, system design, integration, and test.
• Proficiency in at least one scripting language such as Python, with willingness to learn new ones.

Preferred qualifications

• Test experience with RF communication systems.
• Test experience with EMI/EMC compatibility and mitigation.
• Experience using COSMOS and Grafana.
