CesiumAstro develops communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms. We are seeking a Staff Systems Engineer to join our Melbourne, FL team.
What you will do
- Define requirements and assure compatibility of all physical, functional, and program interfaces by evaluating customer and operational needs.
- Develop space architecture concepts, subsystem design, payload design, requirements decomposition, hardware and software system architecture, and concept of operations.
- Perform risk analysis and develop mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate activities across multidiscipline engineering teams.
- Act as primary technical contact for external customers on baseline discussions.
- Serve as liaison between program management, engineering, and manufacturing.
- Participate in developing systems engineering processes for requirements management, flow down, and traceability.
- Identify and resolve issues that impede engineering team progress.
- Foster continuous improvement and efficiency within programs.
- Support project scheduling and coordination with program management.
What you need
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
- Minimum 8 years of experience with emphasis on space-based communication payloads.
- Practical experience with antenna and RF systems.
- Experience working with product and component developers and vendors providing critical system functionality.
- Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills.
- Proficiency with requirements management tools such as DOORS or Jama.
- Ability to define work direction, track milestones, and demonstrate progress on large open-ended projects.
- Sense of urgency and ability to work well under pressure.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities for complex technical challenges and design issues.
- Ability to work effectively with multifunctional teams.
