CesiumAstro develops communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and space platforms. We are seeking a Staff Test Engineer to design, analyze, and implement test plans and procedures for board-level electronics products.
Your responsibilities
- Design and execute tests at prototype, qualification, and acceptance stages
- Plan and execute board-level verification tests including signal integrity, digital link characterization, power supply performance, and temperature testing
- Design test systems for complex integrated hardware and software, such as phased array products combining radios, computers, and antennas
- Write test software to interface with devices under test and test equipment
- Develop test requirements and hardware test plans for new products
- Design test architectures including equipment selection, test fixtures, data logging, and interfaces
- Advise design engineering teams on design-for-testability
- Troubleshoot and debug hardware and software issues
- Train technicians and operators to perform tests
- Design tests for compliance with standards such as NASA GEVS (GSFC-STD-7000)
- Evaluate and document test results for stakeholders
- Guide equipment purchasing decisions and contribute to lab buildout and management
- Qualified candidates may design board-level electronics hardware for test systems
What you bring
- Bachelor of Science or higher in Electrical Engineering or similar from an accredited university
- 9 years of industry or university research experience in design, analysis, and implementation of electronic products or test systems
- Experience designing and executing test plans for custom board-level electronics
- Hands-on experience with lab instruments: digital oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, RF signal generators, vector signal analyzers
- Programming or scripting experience such as Python
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred experience
- Board-level hardware design
- Aerospace industry experience
- Designing test racks for automated testing
- EMI/EMC test design and execution
- Understanding of RF and mixed-signal hardware including amplifiers, filters, ADCs/DACs, antennas
