Quality Inspector III - Avionics 2nd Shift Verified today

About the Role

The Quality Inspector is responsible for inspection and acceptance of qualification and flight hardware and software products. Verifying that all key performance and design characteristics are met prior to launch, you play a critical role in ensuring mission success.

This position is located at Firefly's Production and Test facility in Briggs, TX, north of Cedar Park. You must be able to support 2nd Shift: Monday through Friday, 3pm to 11:30pm.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections on launch vehicle and spacecraft components and sub-assemblies including mechanical, electrical, electro-mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, focused on avionics and spacecraft integration.
• Develop and execute detailed inspection programs to assure adherence to design, specification, and testing requirements.
• Document non-conformances in accordance with prescribed procedures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to investigate and resolve non-conformance or quality issues, including development and implementation of corrective actions.
• Quarantine and process non-conforming product.
• Maintain tool control and calibration processes within assigned work center, including validation of metrology systems.
• Participate in technical operations and offer guidance as a technical resource.
• Initiate and execute plans to improve product quality and inspection efficiency.
• Apply 5S workplace organization and follow Lean initiatives.
• Support manufacturing compliance to customer and internal specifications.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
• 8 or more years of hands-on experience in an aerospace, military, or manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated ability to read technical information and follow technical instructions, including technical drawings, specifications, IPC standards, GD&T, and related quality control documentation and standards.
• Experience with aerospace quality, military, or government standards.
• Ability to work in a cleanroom environment for extended periods of time.
• Strong interpersonal skills including effective verbal and written communication.
• Flexibility regarding workflow and process.
• Excellent organization skills and willingness to work with a team.

Desired Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in quality, engineering, or related technical discipline.
• IPC Certification (IPC J-STD-001, IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620, IPC-7711/21) and familiarity with NASA-STD-8739.4.
• Experience operating in and maintaining cleanroom per FS209E, ISO 14644-1, or equivalent.
• Demonstrated experience applying quality assurance principles, methods, and inspection techniques.
• Demonstrated competency in structures/composites, electrical/avionics, and fluids/propulsion disciplines.
• Full capability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, GD&T, and Model-Based Definitions.
• Comprehensive understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes, materials, and specifications.
• Demonstrated experience with aerospace quality standards such as AS9100 or ISO 9001.
• A&P License.
