The Role
The Avionics Production Supervisor leads and oversees the manufacture of electrical component assemblies including cable harnesses and avionics subsystems. You will ensure production teams meet quality, safety, cost, and schedule requirements while coaching and developing technicians to achieve high performance. This is an afternoon shift position, 3:00pm-11:30pm, based at our electronics manufacturing facility in Cedar Park, Texas.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a production team to deliver high-quality aerospace products on time and within budget
- Coordinate resources, resolve issues, and ensure alignment with daily and long-term production objectives
- Manage shift handovers to ensure seamless communication, production continuity, and accountability between shifts
- Conduct daily pre-shift readiness checks and end-of-shift reviews
- Provide coverage and leadership on nights and weekends as required
- Monitor operations, verify adherence to work instructions, and support problem resolution
- Review work completed versus planned; develop and communicate recovery plans for shortfalls
- Communicate shift accomplishments and risks to leadership through daily reports
- Ensure compliance with all internal and external requirements and work instructions
- Manage technician schedules, approve PTO and timecards
- Develop and maintain skills matrices; propose staffing and training needs based on gaps
- Promote and enforce a culture of safety; implement improvements to shop safety practices
- Partner with Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain to resolve production issues
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cost, improve quality, and increase efficiency
- Hold team members accountable to company policies; provide coaching and corrective actions
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of cable harness or avionics manufacturing experience
- 2+ years in a leadership role in a manufacturing environment
- 2+ years experience in multiple manufacturing processes including wire processing, harness testing, connector termination, soldering and crimping
- Experience developing and improving shop procedures and work instructions
- Strong technical aptitude
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and manufacturing software systems
- Safety- and compliance-focused mindset with strong attention to detail
- Able to provide on-site support for assigned shift, including nights, weekends and holidays
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with PPE requirements (safety glasses, gloves, respirators as needed)
Desired Qualifications
- Experience leading teams in an aerospace or space production environment
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies
- Knowledge of AS9100 and NADCAP requirements
- Certification to IPC/WHMA-A-620, IPC-A-610, and/or IPC J-STD-001
