ICEYE · Espoo, Finland · Electronics · first seen 2026-07-16

About the role

ICEYE is seeking an AIT Engineer to own the assembly, integration, and testing of on-board computer and communications subsystems at our Espoo headquarters. This is a hands-on technical role for an engineer with strong expertise in complex electronics and SDR-based communications systems, ready to contribute directly to spacecraft production and mission-critical troubleshooting in a fast-paced, high-cadence environment.

What you will do

  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for all OBC and Comms issues during manufacturing, integration, and testing
  • Conduct hands-on inspection, verification, and assembly of OBC and Comms subsystems hardware
  • Identify, contain, and drive root cause analysis of non-conformances; implement corrective actions and close feedback loops into design and production processes
  • Contribute to OBC and Comms design reviews, production ramp-up planning, and DFM/DFT improvements
  • Represent AIT Engineering across projects and disciplines, interfacing with design engineers, production leads, and other domain AIT engineers
  • Apply system-level understanding to anticipate integration risks across subsystem interfaces and ensure mission success
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation including test procedures, NCRs, and corrective action records

What you bring

Must have

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in the development, integration, testing, or production of complex electronics and communications systems
  • Deep technical knowledge of electronics engineering and SDR-based communications systems, with system-level understanding across full hardware architectures
  • Demonstrated experience in multidisciplinary engineering environments, including mentoring engineers and technicians and driving cross-functional collaboration
  • Strong track record in DFM and DFT in high-reliability hardware environments
  • Familiarity with integration, verification, configuration management, and production ramp-up processes in complex hardware industries
  • Proactive, hands-on approach to problem-solving including structured root cause analysis
  • Continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to drive reliability and repeatability as production volumes scale
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills
  • Experience writing clear, traceable technical documentation

Nice to have

  • Experience with issue tracking and configuration management tools
  • Familiarity with Python or AI-assisted tools for productivity and test automation
  • Rapid ability to structure and synthesize complex technical information and communicate conclusions clearly
  • Resilience and sustained motivation in high-pressure production environments
  • Transparency, humility, and an active growth mindset

What we offer

  • A job that matters in a dynamic Defence Technology and Earth Observation environment with a scale-up approach
  • An independent role with a supportive and diverse work environment
  • Time for self-development, research, training, conferences, or certification schemes
  • Health insurance
  • Creative, inspiring and collaborative office
