The Role
As Propulsion Valves Engineer in the Engine Valves Team, you will design and procure valves for the propulsion system. This includes creating CAD models and drawings, overseeing production and testing from prototypes to serial production, and managing requirements. You will be actively involved in prototyping and development testing and may need to travel to Isar's test and launch facility locations.
Your Responsibilities
- Define requirements and specifications for valves in collaboration with Propulsion teams
- Calculate and design valves based on requirements and conduct design reviews
- Prepare and organize the manufacturing of valves and address manufacturing issues
- Oversee and optimize the assembly of valves
- Plan, supervise, and evaluate valve tests including development acceptance, qualification, and integrated testing
- Participate in and supervise integrated system tests and analyze the data
- Ensure component and system performance and reliability throughout valve lifecycles via development tests, design reviews, and post-test data analysis
Qualifications
- M.Sc. or M.Eng. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar field
- Hands-on experience with testing preparation, operation, and post-test data review
- Experience in machining processes and creating drawings
- Proficiency in CAD software (preferably SolidWorks or Siemens NX)
- Knowledge of Python or similar programming languages
- Systematic approach to analyzing and resolving engineering problems
- General understanding of rocket design and passion for rocket propulsion and space
- Ability to collaborate effectively on multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams
- Highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented
- Motivated and eager to learn
- Willing to travel to support launching and testing operations
- Fluent in English
Bonus Skills
- Experience in valve or rocket engine development
- Hands-on testing experience with fluid systems, including cryogenic fluids and oxygen compatibility
