Working Student Avionics, Spectrum Verified today
Mission Brief
As an Avionics Working Student in the Reusability Program, you support the engineering team in preliminary design and coordination of reusability experiments. Initially supporting ESA reusability studies, you translate Spectrum test insights into architecture-level performance assessments, design constraints and development targets. You perform preliminary sizing of actuators, instrumentation layouts, harnessing and interface with specialist departments (Avionics, GNC) to ensure compatibility and compliance with system constraints.
Your Role
- Design avionics architecture constrained by mission objectives, pre-existing architecture and available components
- Support program-level decisions by delivering structured results, trade-offs and data-driven recommendations
- Interface with GNC department on system requirements, avionics system capabilities and instrumentation after familiarizing with existing architecture
- Drive ground requirements for telemetry and data processing
- Participate in data analysis and documentation
- Support rapid prototyping and testing activities
Requirements
- Enrolled in a relevant STEM discipline (e.g. Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering)
- More than 1 year's experience in high-tech projects related to avionics
- Experience with avionics system and component layout and design
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Able to manage different tasks with different priorities
- Proficient in common CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, Siemens NX)
- Fluent in English
Bonus Skills
- Participation in student groups or amateur engineering competitions (e.g. EuRoC, SAC, IREC)
- German proficiency
Benefits
- Subsidised lunch
- Flexible mobility budget (Deutschlandticket or fuel allowance)
- Sports club membership (EGYM Wellpass)
- Free snacks and drinks
- Physical and mental well-being support via OpenUp
