The Role
As a Harness Design Engineer, you will design electrical harnesses that connect spacecraft systems, avionics, payloads, and test equipment. You'll work across electrical systems, mechanical engineering, manufacturing, and integration and test teams to turn electrical interfaces into reliable, production-ready hardware.
This is an opportunity for an earlier career candidate with a strong electrical engineering foundation and interest in developing expertise in spacecraft harness design.
What You'll Do
- Design electrical harnesses for spacecraft, payloads, and test systems.
- Translate schematics, ICDs, pinouts, and electrical interfaces into harness designs.
- Create harness schematics and 3D harness assemblies using Creo.
- Develop manufacturing drawings, bills of material, and harness documentation.
- Support harness fabrication, inspection, integration, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Contribute to harness libraries, design standards, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related field.
- Strong foundation in electrical engineering, circuits, electronics, and electrical interfaces.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, pinouts, and interface documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and interest in precise, hands-on engineering work.
- Ability to learn new engineering tools and collaborate across electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, and test teams.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with Creo, SolidWorks, CATIA, or another 3D CAD system.
- Experience with electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, block diagrams, or connectivity data.
- Familiarity with connectors, wires, cables, shielding, grounding, strain relief, or EMI/EMC.
- Hands-on experience with electronics, PCBs, soldering, crimping, electrical test equipment, or hardware integration.
- Coursework or project experience in embedded systems, RF, signal integrity, power electronics, or high-speed digital design.
