Cryogenic First Stage Tank Design Engineer
MaiaSpace is a European space tech company designing, manufacturing and operating competitive and sustainable solutions for space mobility. We aim to successfully design and test a cost-effective and reusable mini-launch vehicle by 2026.
We are looking for a mechanical designer to join our Cryogenic Stage Team working on tank structure. You will contribute to the tank design within the First Stage, inside the Tank and Structure team, relying on a strong mechanical background and excellent communication skills.
Your responsibilities
- Propose designs in agreement with high-level technical requirements defined for the structure
- Perform trade-offs to identify best technical solutions to meet mass and cost targets
- Contribute to 3D CAD modelling of pressurized and non-pressurized tank structures and deliver detailed design
- Exchange with other teams to understand constraints and needs, and negotiate solutions
- Contribute to final design choice, considering cost, performance, manufacturing lead time, and integration
- Compute functional cotation using low-cost approaches and simplified manufacturing operations
- Contact suppliers and perform selection based on technical and logistical constraints
- Follow parts manufacturing and support methods and integration teams in collaboration with the industrialization team leader
- Manage tank interfaces with the stage in interaction with Propulsion, System and Layout First Stage teams
- Contribute to design definition management in Solidworks PDM
- Support mechanical design activities of the stage in collaboration with the team architect and other members
