About the role
Muon seeks a GNC (Guidance, Navigation, and Control) hardware engineer to design and qualify spacecraft attitude control sensors and actuators. You will drive decisions from component sizing through build-vs-buy, integration, testing, and on-orbit support for our LEO satellite constellation.
This position is hybrid, requiring three days per week on-site in Mountain View, CA.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate GNC sensor and actuator trade space to meet power, cost, performance, and ConOps requirements
- Characterize GNC hardware performance and interactions with software, electrical, and thermal systems
- Build, validate and improve simulation models of GNC components
- Perform trade studies to inform sensor and actuator configuration
- Define and execute test plans for design verification, qualification, and acceptance testing at component and integrated system levels
- Manage vendor interactions with the Supply Chain team to ensure on-time delivery and performance
- Support system integration with integration and hardware teams
- Monitor on-orbit GNC hardware performance and support anomaly resolution, including on-call rotations
- Support hardware-in-the-loop test planning, execution, and validation
- Stay current with industry state of the art
Qualifications
- Master's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or applied physics, or equivalent hands-on experience with GNC hardware
- Familiarity with common models of spacecraft attitude sensors and actuators
- No work experience explicitly required; role scope grows with experience
- Availability to work in Mountain View office
- Excellent communication and presentation skills

Compensation
Salary: $157,000-$179,000 plus equity grant and comprehensive benefits. Final compensation based on skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
