About the Role
Muon seeks a Senior Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) engineer to design and operate attitude determination and control systems (ADCS) for LEO satellites. You will apply systems thinking to collaborate across disciplines and deliver elegant spacecraft designs.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement GNC architectures and algorithms in embedded C++
- Define requirements for ADCS algorithms, hardware, and roadmap development
- Perform mission-specific GNC performance analysis and simulation
- Develop ground-processing algorithms for sensor calibration and geolocation pipelines
- Support on-orbit anomaly resolution including oncall duties
- Plan and execute software and hardware-in-the-loop testing and validation
- Lead technical efforts and mentor junior engineers
Requirements
- PhD or Master's in mechanical or aerospace engineering plus 5+ years professional experience, OR several years hands-on GNC analysis and design
- C++ software development
- Control and optimization theory
- Numerical programming in Python, Julia, or MATLAB
- Experience designing, analyzing, and implementing ADCS/GNC for spacecraft
- Strong communication, presentation, and coordination skills
Nice-to-Have
- Control stability analysis of flexible bodies
- ADCS for precision pointing platforms
- Spacecraft flight operations experience
Compensation
Salary: $155,000 - $231,000 plus equity and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401k, disability and life insurance, three weeks paid vacation, 12 paid holidays, unlimited sick time, and paid parental leave.
