The role
Join Mynaric as an Optical Communication Engineer to develop next-generation laser communication systems for space applications.
What you'll do
- Develop extreme bandwidth systems for optical communications, including laser diodes, electronic and optical amplifiers, modulators, and receiver elements with electronics
- Design and analyse higher order modulation schemes to increase data rate and receiver sensitivity
- Perform theoretical analysis and simulation of optical communication trains using tools such as VPIphotonics or Matlab
- Test and characterize next generation communication systems and commercial components
- Support test, validation and verification of optical communication terminal subsystems
- Provide development support for current generation laser terminals
- Support the sales team in proposal generation and procurement team in RFI/RFPs
What you need
- University degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent work experience
- Detailed knowledge and hands-on experience in optics or photonics
- Theoretical and experimental experience in free space and/or fibre optics
- Experience with integrated photonic systems (beneficial)
- Enthusiasm for testing and evolving prototypes in the lab with a hands-on mentality
- ZEMAX modelling experience (beneficial)
- Excellent team work and communication skills
- Results-oriented, reliable and pro-active approach to work
- Ability to develop creative solutions to complex technological problems
