About the Team

The Engine Manufacturing team delivers high-performance engines and advances manufacturing systems that improve cost, quality, and lead time. You will actively shape new hardware iterations and interface regularly with engineers on critical decisions for the Aeon R program. The team has successfully developed and refined processes for initial development engines and is now focused on producing flight engines at rate for Terran R's aggressive launch manifest.

About the Role

As a Manufacturing Engineer II, you will produce components and assemblies for the fuel and oxidizer turbopumps of the Aeon-R and Aeon-R Vac engines. You will own the manufacturing trades and develop processes for fabricating, testing, and delivering critical Aeon-R hardware and subassemblies. You will serve as the main point-of-contact between the manufacturing and design teams as you optimize Aeon-R architecture and scale manufacturing operations.

You should thrive in ambiguity and drive projects to completion. You must have the passion, tenacity, and resolve to work through challenges unique to rocket turbopumps and additively manufactured hardware. You will work at the interfaces of design, development, and analysis of turbomachinery, ideally with experience from fast-paced aerospace environments and difficult projects delivered through multidisciplinary collaboration.

Requirements

  • Degree in engineering or related technical field and 2+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience with turbopump assembly procedures, including rotor balancing, interference fits, clearance checks, structural proofing, and leak checks
  • Manufacturing process experience: fluids testing, machining, additive
  • Knowledge of general assembly and test procedures, including tolerance stack-up analysis, structural proof testing, and pressurized leak checks
  • Experience with Siemens NX or other CAD and analysis tools
  • Experience with tooling design, including conceptualization, modeling, drafting, and detailed analysis

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with additively manufactured engine hardware
  • Experience with GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and industry specifications
  • Experience in a startup or agile development environment
  • Experience working in a flight development program

Compensation

Hiring range: $104,000 to $156,000 USD. Compensation is determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors. Relativity Space offers competitive salary and equity, generous PTO and sick leave, parental leave, and an annual learning and development stipend.
