The propulsion team owns engine design from concept through launch and reuse, partnering with manufacturing, test, launch and integration teams to develop engines in record time.
The Role
You will help advance the state of the art of turbine design for space applications. You will collaborate closely with propulsion development and manufacturing teams to incorporate improvements into future designs. This role requires someone who thrives in ambiguity, drives projects to completion, and can work through challenging issues unique to rocket turbopumps. You will work at the intersection of design, development and analysis of turbomachinery.
What You'll Own
- Turbine design and aerodynamic and structural analysis
- Low-cycle fatigue (LCF) and high-cycle fatigue (HCF) methodologies
- Transient thermal and aerodynamic analysis
- Forced response analysis
- Turbopump assembly procedures including rotor balancing, interference fits, clearance checks, structural proofing and leak checks
About You
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field
- 15+ years of relevant experience in turbomachinery
- Experience with turbine design and performing aerodynamic and structural analysis
- Knowledge of industry standard turbomachinery design and analysis tools
- Strong communication skills
- Background in fast-paced aerospace environments and multidisciplinary collaboration
Nice to Have
- In-situ mode shape and blade deformation measurement experience
- Experience overseeing turbomachinery development or test campaigns
- Proficiency in Siemens NX and Teamcenter
- Startup or agile development environment experience
- Flight development program experience
Compensation and Benefits
Hiring range: $185,000 to $277,000 USD. Compensation is determined based on experience, qualifications and job-related factors. Relativity Space offers competitive salary and equity, generous PTO and sick leave, parental leave, annual learning and development stipend and additional benefits.
