About the Team

The propulsion team at Relativity develops the engines that power the Terran R vehicle. You'll own engine design from concept through launch and reuse, partnering with manufacturing, test, launch, and integration teams. The goal is first launch of Terran R in 2026.

About the Role

You will advance turbine design for space applications and collaborate closely with propulsion development and manufacturing teams to incorporate improvements into future designs. You'll work at the interfaces of design, development, and analysis of turbomachinery, driving projects to completion in a fast-paced aerospace environment.

What You'll Own

  • Turbine aerodynamic and structural analysis
  • Low-cycle fatigue (LCF) and high-cycle fatigue (HCF) methodology
  • Transient thermal and aerodynamic analysis
  • Forced response analysis
  • Turbopump assembly procedures including rotor balancing, interference fits, clearance checks, and leak checks

What We're Looking For

  • Degree in engineering or related technical field and 15+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience with turbine design, performing aerodynamic and structural analysis
  • Experience with LCF and HCF methodologies
  • Experience with transient thermal/aerodynamic analysis
  • Experience with forced response analysis
  • Knowledge of industry standard turbomachinery design and analysis tools
  • Strong communication skills
  • Knowledge of turbopump assembly procedures, including rotor balancing, interference fits, clearance checks, structural proofing, and leak checks

Nice to Have

  • Experience with in-situ mode shape and blade deformation measurement
  • Experience overseeing turbomachinery development and/or test campaigns
  • Proficiency in Siemens NX and Teamcenter
  • Experience in a startup or agile development environment
  • Experience working in a flight development program

Compensation

Hiring range: $185,000 to $277,000 USD. Actual compensation determined by experience, qualifications, and job-related factors. Relativity Space offers competitive salary and equity, generous PTO and sick leave, parental leave, and an annual learning and development stipend.
