About the Team
The Avionics team is responsible for all aspects of electrical design on the rocket, from electronics and interconnects to mechanical design, testing and initial production. This includes flight computers, power systems, RF systems, PCB design, autonomous flight safety systems, and telemetry.
About the Role
As Manager of Avionics Production, you will develop and guide the Production team while defining key projects, goals, and initiatives. You will:
- Drive continuous improvement across the production floor using lean manufacturing expertise
- Identify production gaps and inefficiencies, advocating for tools and processes that enhance performance
- Ensure the team meets high standards of quality and efficiency
- Optimize manufacturing workflows and reduce waste
- Mentor the growing engineering team
- Achieve operational excellence across avionics manufacturing
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
- 6+ years of experience in a leadership or management role
- Strong understanding of avionics manufacturing, including PCBA manufacturing, harness fabrication, and electronics box assemblies
- Background in lean manufacturing principles, process optimization, and quality management systems
- Prior experience scaling low-volume or pilot production lines to high volume
- Strong communication skills, capable of working cross-functionally with design, production, and executive teams
Nice to Have
- Understanding of AS9100 processes and quality management systems
- Experience with electronics supply chain management
- Familiarity with quality process controls for PCBAs, wire harnesses, and electromechanical assemblies
- Familiarity with environmental testing of avionics hardware per standards such as SMC-S-016, DO-160, or similar
Compensation
Hiring range: $130,000 to $194,000 USD. Relativity Space offers competitive salary and equity, generous PTO and sick leave policy, parental leave, and an annual learning and development stipend.
