About the Role

You will join the Engine Systems and Test Team, working on integrated engine testing for the Terran R rocket. Your work spans simulation, system-level requirements and interfaces, component testing, and full-engine hotfire testing in collaboration with component engineers, manufacturing, the Stennis test facility, and launch operations.

Your Responsibilities

  • Serve as Responsible Engineer for propulsion test articles, owning exploratory operation of new and existing test hardware designs
  • Develop test plans in collaboration with product owners and execute test campaigns with the Stennis team, troubleshooting technical problems as they arise
  • Perform varied day-to-day work including writing test sequences, reviewing test data, hands-on work with test articles, writing code, sitting console for hotfire tests, and designing tooling
  • Support engine subsystem troubleshooting, partner team investigations, engine system analysis and simulation, and trade studies
  • Own projects of your creation to increase team efficiency
  • As the vehicle program progresses, support stage test and flight campaigns, including console operations for launch and defining flight concepts of operations (CONOPS)

Work Schedule and Location

  • Full-time onsite in Long Beach, California with approximately 25% travel to test and launch sites
  • Rotating shift schedules (1st and 2nd shift)
  • Occasional weekend work for critical milestones

Your Background

  • 2 or more years of experience in complex engineering system development and/or test environments
  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, technology, or mathematics
  • Demonstrated experience with fluid mechanics and thermodynamics fundamentals
  • Problem-solving ability and collaborative working style
  • Ability to execute high-ownership projects on ambitious schedules, including unconventional solutions
  • Self-starter capable of leading projects to completion and committed to continuous learning

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to test operations environments
  • Working knowledge of combustion devices, valves, heat exchangers, or instrumentation

Compensation

Hiring range: $104,000 to $156,000 USD. Relativity Space offers competitive salary and equity, generous PTO and sick leave, parental leave, annual learning and development stipend, and additional benefits.
