About the Role

You will serve as Responsible Engineer for the integrated engine test team at Relativity Space. Your work will span engine systems development, component testing, and full hotfire test campaigns for the Terran R rocket.

What You Will Do

Test Operations

  • Develop test plans in collaboration with product owners and execute test campaigns with our Stennis test team
  • Own exploratory operation of new and existing test article designs, evaluating hardware behavior to support engine development and certification
  • Write test sequences, review test data, conduct hands-on work with test articles, sit console for hotfire tests, and design tooling
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and solve problems in real time during test campaigns

Systems Work

  • Support engine subsystem troubleshooting and partner team product investigations
  • Conduct engine system analysis, simulation, and trade studies
  • Take ownership of projects to increase team efficiency

Future Opportunities

  • As the program progresses, support stage testing and flight campaigns, including console operations during launch and definition of flight concepts of operations (CONOPS)

Work Schedule and Travel

  • Full-time, onsite in Long Beach, CA with approximately 25% travel to test and launch sites
  • Rotating 1st and 2nd shift schedules
  • Occasional weekend work for critical milestones

About You

  • 5+ years of experience in complex engineering system development and/or test environments
  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, technology, or mathematics
  • Strong fundamentals in fluid mechanics and thermodynamics
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability and experience in collaborative environments
  • Ability to execute high-ownership projects on ambitious schedules, including unconventional solutions

Nice to Have

  • Experience in test operations environments
  • Working knowledge of combustion devices, valves, heat exchangers, or instrumentation

Compensation

Hiring range: $132,000 to $198,000 USD. Relativity Space offers competitive salary and equity, generous PTO and sick leave, parental leave, annual learning and development stipend, and additional benefits.
