The Role
As a Senior Turbomachinery Test Responsible Engineer, you will develop assemblies for the fuel and oxidizer turbopumps of the Aeon-R engine family. You will collaborate closely with propulsion development and manufacturing teams to incorporate improvements into future designs.
You will work at the interfaces of design, development, and analysis of turbomachinery. You must drive your own projects to completion, diagnose and resolve complex turbomachinery operational issues, and thrive in ambiguity while working through challenges unique to rocket turbopumps.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field
- 5 or more years of relevant industry experience
- Strong understanding of turbomachinery fundamentals
- Knowledge of turbomachinery design and analysis practices
- Ability to perform basic structural, thermal, and/or fluid analysis
- Knowledge of turbopump assembly procedures, including rotor balancing, interference fits, clearance checks, structural proofing, and leak checks
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex turbomachinery operational issues
- Strong communication skills
Preferred Experience
- Proficiency in Siemens NX and Teamcenter
- Turbomachinery analyses such as bladed CFD, structural, modal, and rotordynamics
- Designing bladed turbopump components (inducers, impellers, turbines)
- Work in a startup or agile development environment
- Flight development program experience
Compensation
Salary range: $132,000 to $198,000 USD. Relativity Space offers competitive salary and equity, generous PTO and sick leave, parental leave, and an annual learning and development stipend.
