About the Role
You will be the cognizant Materials & Processes engineer for Terran R launch vehicle fluid systems, owning the full lifecycle from material selection through flight and reuse.
Your responsibilities include:
- Qualify fluid system materials and processes for flight and reuse
- Develop, implement, and maintain technical specifications and engineering standards
- Drive statistically-driven experimental design and process improvement campaigns
- Interface with materials engineers to identify and fill critical technology gaps
- Work with laboratory staff to characterize materials and processes
- Support fluid system engineers in materials selection, design, analysis, qualification, failure analysis, flight operations, and reuse
- Partner with manufacturing engineers to develop processes, troubleshoot issues, and enable cost and rate while maintaining performance
- Ensure quality assurance and supply chain compliance with subcontractors
- Collaborate with Relativity and customer Fracture Control Boards to achieve vehicle reuse
- Develop technical roadmaps and elevate risks to leadership
About You
- Bachelor's degree in materials science, materials engineering, or related field
- 7+ years of relevant materials and processes experience (leveling is flexible based on background)
- Experience with materials and processes activities: material selection, process development, qualification, damage tolerance, inspections, risk assessments, and failure analysis

Nice to Have
- Demonstrated ownership with aerospace fluid system products through full part lifecycle (manifolds, tubes, trays, bellows, fittings)
- Experience with cryogenic stainless steel alloys, nickel alloys, structural aluminum alloys
- Expertise in special processes: orbital tube welding, gas tungsten arc welding, tube bending, passivation, precision cleaning, heat treatment, forging, casting, extrusions
- Knowledge of media compatibility, non-destructive evaluation, corrosion, fatigue and damage tolerance
- Experience with statistical experimental design and data analysis
Compensation
