About the Role
You will join the Engine Systems and Test Team, working across simulation, system architecture, component testing, and integrated engine hotfire testing. You will collaborate with component engineers, manufacturing, the Stennis test team, and launch operations to deliver engines for the Terran rocket.
Test Responsibilities
- Serve as Responsible Engineer for propulsion test articles
- Develop test plans in collaboration with product owners and execute test campaigns with the Stennis team
- Own exploratory operation of new and existing test article designs, evaluating hardware behavior to support engine development and certification
- Write test sequences, review data, work hands-on with test articles, write code, sit console for hotfire tests, and design tooling
- Troubleshoot technical puzzles and document findings
Systems and Projects
- Support engine subsystem troubleshooting and product investigations
- Conduct engine system analysis, simulation, and trade studies
- Own efficiency-improvement projects you identify
- As the vehicle program progresses, support stage test and flight campaigns, including console operations for launch and definition of test objectives and flight concepts of operations (CONOPS)
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years experience in complex engineering system development and/or test environments
- Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, technology, or mathematics
- Strong fundamentals in fluid mechanics and thermodynamics
- Demonstrated problem-solving ability in collaborative environments
- Proven ability to execute high-ownership projects on ambitious schedules, including unconventional solutions
- Self-starter capable of leading collaborative projects to completion
- Desire to continuously improve and learn about interfacing systems
Nice to Have
- Exposure to test operations environments
- Working knowledge of combustion devices, valves, heat exchangers, or instrumentation
Work Schedule and Travel
- Full-time onsite in Long Beach, CA with approximately 25% travel to test and launch sites
- Rotating 1st and 2nd shift schedules
- Occasional weekend work for critical milestones
Compensation
Salary range: $164,000 to $246,000 USD. Relativity Space offers competitive salary and equity, generous PTO and sick leave, parental leave, and an annual learning and development stipend.
