About the Team
The propulsion team develops the engines that power Terran R. You will own turbomachinery design from concept through launch and reuse, partnering with manufacturing, test, launch, and integration teams to deliver the Aeon-R engine systems in time for first launch in 2026.
About the Role
You will develop fuel and oxidizer turbopump assemblies for the Aeon-R engine family. You will collaborate with propulsion development and manufacturing teams to incorporate improvements into future designs.
You should thrive in ambiguity and drive projects to completion. You must have the passion and tenacity to work through challenging issues unique to rocket turbopumps. You will work at the interfaces of design, development, and analysis of turbomachinery.
What You Need
- Degree in engineering or related technical field
- 8+ years of relevant industry experience
- Ability to perform basic structural, thermal, and fluid analysis
- Knowledge of turbomachinery design and analysis practices
- Strong understanding of turbomachinery fundamentals
- Knowledge of turbopump assembly procedures: rotor balancing, interference fits, clearance checks, structural proofing, and leak checks
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex turbomachinery operational issues
- Strong communication skills
Nice to Have
- Proficiency in Siemens NX and Teamcenter
- Experience performing turbomachinery analyses: bladed CFD, structural, modal, rotordynamics
- Experience designing bladed turbopump components: inducers, impellers, turbines
- Experience in a startup or agile development environment
- Experience in a flight development program
Compensation
Hiring range: $164,000 to $246,000 USD. Compensation determined by experience, qualifications, and job-related factors. Relativity offers competitive salary and equity, generous PTO and sick leave, parental leave, and annual learning and development stipend.
